The fabulous team behind one of Australia's most popular magazines, New Idea, are huge dog fans. And as a token of their adoration, they've teamed up with us to help spread the word about our ground-breaking Puppy Factory Awareness campaign — Know Your Best Friend.

For every copy of New Idea sold this week — Animals Australia will receive 5¢ of the cover price! Or, if you sign up for a discounted subscription to your favourite magazines, you can indulge in as much celebrity gossip (or fashion, gardening and fitness tips!) as you like — safe in the knowledge that $5 will go directly to our Puppy Factory Fighting Fund. Helping dogs has never been easier.

5 cents from every copy of New Idea sold this week will go directly to Animals Australia's Puppy Factory Fighting Fund!

Every cent raised means we'll be able to reach even more Australians with the Know Your Best Friend message that caring about your dog means also caring where they came from.

DOG CRAZY: Did you know that some 63% of Aussie's share their homes with a companion animal? And 4.2 million of those animals are dogs!

It's no secret that Aussies love dogs. Our four-legged friends aren't just 'pets', they're a part of the family! Every year we spend some $3.5 million on pampering our pooches — on toys and treats, grooming sessions and doggy day care — but, sadly, not all pups are so lucky...

In puppy factories, dogs lead lives of deprivation and suffering. Used as 'breeding machines', they're denied the love and companionship all dogs should have, just so they can churn out puppies for sale online, or in pet shops.

Inhumane puppy farmers keep dogs — and customers — in the dark. The best way to avoid puppy factory cruelty is to 'adopt, not shop'!

But things are changing. As more people learn about the cruelty inflicted on dogs in inhumane puppy factories, they're choosing to bypass the puppy factory supply chain and adopt their next best friend instead. Now we just need your help to spread the word! Together, we can create a world without puppy factories, and offer all dogs the chance to enjoy the life they deserve.

Franny the rescued beagle with her new 'pack' — Benjamin and Mackenzie!

Happily ever after

Franny the beagle was imprisoned in a puppy factory, and used as a 'breeder' dog for two-and-a-half years, until our investigators found her. She was rescued, and has now been adopted into the loving arms of the Hunter family (pictured above) in Melbourne. You can watch her incredible transformation from puppy factory to freedom here:

Franny's story

How to be a Life Saver (no swimming lessons required!)

Caring Australians are horrified when they discover that tens of thousands of 'unwanted' dogs are euthanised in pounds and shelters every year, for the tragically simple — and completely avoidable — reason that no one stepped in to rescue them from death row.

So if you've got room in your heart for a dog, just like Franny, who is desperately in need of a loving home — then simply make the pledge to "adopt, not shop" for your next best friend, and save a life today!

Save dogs from puppy factories!
