Getting Involved in the
National Day of Action to End
Live Animal Export:
November 10th 2007
Even with only a little time to spare, you can be a champion for animals on the National Day of Action! With the help of a friend or two, or even on your own, you can distribute hundreds of informative leaflets and gather countless petition signatures, helping Animals Australia reach its goal of 200,000 signatures on what is already one of the largest petitions to be tabled in Senate in recent years!
Join in solidarity with other caring Australians all over the country and make this a day the live exporters won’t forget! It’s simple! Here’s how:
Campaign Materials:
We’ve made it easy to get equipped. All the materials you need can be downloaded from our website. You can print them out at home, have them photocopied, or even professionally printed:
- The Live Export Petition (essential!)
Each petition can take 25 signatures. Print out at least 10 per person who will be petitioning, and please remember that only signatures accompanied by full postal addresses can be counted in the petition tally, as required by the Federal Government.
Download the petition.
- Live Export Flyers (recommended)
On a busy street corner, one person can easily hand out a few hundred flyers in just an hour or so. Of course, it is important to read and understand the flyer so you know what you are handing to people! Please contact us to be sent a free bundle of glossy campaign flyers, or if you can't wait for the post, download your own.
- Posters (optional)
Posters are excellent for attracting attention and alerting people at a distance to the reason you are gathering petitions. There are 7 designs to choose from. Laminating your posters, or sticking them to cardboard or corflute will make them last longer and look more professional.
Download the posters here.
- Animals Australia Signup Sheet (optional)
Keep a copy of our email signup sheet handy and ask for the email address of anyone who would like to learn more about Animals Australia’s campaigns.
Download it here.
Dress for the Occasion:
Order your own “Live Export – Australia’s Shame” T-shirt, which will help to attract attention on the day. Alternatively, simply dress casually and comfortably.
Know Your Facts:
Read and print a copy of the Live Export Fact Sheet, which covers the key issues and frequently asked questions about this campaign. It will help you to answer most questions asked by people on the day. If you’re unsure how to answer a particular question, simply refer them to Animals Australia’s website.
Other Essentials:
Bring along some clipboards & pens (essential!), some sticky tape for attaching posters to walls or footpaths, and a bottle of water. You can also put petitions and leaflets on a fold-up table if you have one. But the most important thing to bring along is a SMILE! Smile, because you are taking a stand against animal abuse, because you are making a difference to the lives of countless animals, and smile because thanks to people like you, there is hope, determination, and real action that will end the indefensible cruelty of live animal export!
