The start of a new year is the perfect time for new beginnings. And this January, something is afoot that will see people across the world discovering how they can live happy, healthy lives without harming others. And it's called 'Veganuary'.

The idea is simple: try vegan for the month of January. A chance to give cruelty-free living a go with thousands of others — and without any pressure — to discover how easy and rewarding it can be. And together our compassionate choices will save countless animals!

5 reasons to take part in Veganuary

Because dairy calves aren't 'waste products'

Every year, hundreds of thousands of calves like this little guy are sent to slaughter as 'waste products' of the dairy industry. Born only to keep his mum producing milk for human consumption, his 'job' is over the day he is born. When you try vegan for January you'll be standing up for calves like him.

Because male chicks shouldn't be disposable

By taking part in Veganuary, you'll be saving day-old male chicks from being gassed or tossed live into meat grinders by the egg industry. Since male chicks can't produce eggs and don't grow fast enough to be raised for meat, they are 'disposed of' on their first day of life. But your month of cruelty-free living will help reduce the demand that has driven the egg industry to discard millions of these little birds every year.

Because we can live happy, healthy lives without harming others

Eating plant-based foods has been found to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and some types of cancer. The Veganuary team have a wealth of resources to help you make the switch and kick off 2015 in a healthy, delicious way!

Because we only have one planet

Livestock production has been linked to the most serious environmental problems facing our planet today. And with one third of the world's cereal harvest being used to fatten up farmed animals rather than to feed the world's hungry, your choice to try vegan for January will have a positive impact on people and our planet.

Because it's delicious!

Going meat-free doesn't mean missing out! In fact, here is a free e-cookbook packed with dozens of delicious plant-based recipes to prove it.
