We all exist in the same atmosphere. On the same Earth. We all share in one unique and complex story that is billions of years in the making. We delight in joy, and love, and can’t help but celebrate when we witness acts of kindness.

Why then, do we separate? How have we allowed ‘difference’ to justify ‘indifference’? Are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past — to perpetually wage war on ourselves; on our planet; on our fellow species?

Not the same. But equal.

In an extraordinary feature length documentary, UNITY asks this very big question. And in so doing, illustrates why our very survival may depend on living by what unites us – rather than what divides us. UNITY suggests that a profound, universal compassion may be the next great evolutionary step staring humankind in the face. Are we ready to take it?

From the writer and director of EARTHLINGS comes a unique film about compassion for all expressions of life, and an invitation to see beyond race … religion … gender … species …

Writer and director Shaun Monson discusses the genesis of UNITY

Breaking new ground in filmmaking, UNITY is told by a staggering 100 narrators including Helen Mirren, Geoffrey Rush, Dr. Dre, Aaron Paul, Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin Spacey and Ben Kingsley — and features some of the most compelling vision of the 20th and 21st centuries, including footage filmed by Animals Australia investigators.

Delivering a message that is close to our hearts, Animals Australia is proud to partner with Mushroom Pictures to support the launch of UNITY in Australia.

The world is trying to learn a lesson.
